Thanks Rupert - you picked out two of my strong favourites there; The Chosen One can be a challenge to get - the whole place is covered in livestock again so you lose the minimalism just now, and the 21st Century Farming image isn't usually that popular with others but was probably my favourite shot from 2010.

You wouldn't necessarily know it from my website, but architecture is a strong passion of mine too - you have some really great abstracts and an interesting eye!

Nice work. I especially like the 21st Century Farming and Chosen One. Theres a similar tree I see from the train between Reading and Oxford every weekend. I always want to jump off and go find it and photograph it in a similar way. I think it works better in mono for the greater contrast and the emphasis on the tree once it has a greater silhouette.

My (mainly architectural portfolio) website has a few of my photos up there if you're interested. (found your page from a comment on the pinhole camera day BBC. Come May my current archtectural project featuring camera obscura will be up there)

Cheers, R

This new look website is superb Russ. It has a very clean, dynamic style which is pleasing to look at. Most importantly though the quality of your work shows even more with the uncluttered layout.

I was suffering a major lack of inspiration before stumbling across your site. The images are superb i could sit and look at them for ages.

I am a merely very enthusiastic amateur photographer. I looked at your site after reading your reviews of the Nikon 24 & 45 PC-E on Warehouse Express website. I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your photos on your website. I feel there are so few images these days that are artistic and a bit different without being 'too different'. I feel a bit silly writing this but I just wanted to let you that I really like your work. I assume some of the images with the more unusual out of focus areas were taken with the tilt and shift lenses. I can see great creative potential with one of these - I think I will start saving!

Kind regards, Vee Avenell

Hi Russ,

Just felt moved to write to you re your FliickR page to let you know how much I enjoy it. I "discovered" you following reading your article on red filters a few months ago. Your images fascinate me as does your approach to photography.

Just under 4 years ago I retired and have been struggling to get to grips with photography over that time. Basically I am not gifted with a natural eye but have a willingness to work on it with the time there is on my hands. I saw a comment last week re how your confidence waivers in your photography. This proved inspirational for me as I am riddled, as has always been the case, with self doubt in my creative abilities.

Over the past few weeks there has been a realisation on my part that camera technique is key. Previously it seemed that Photoshop, Elements in my case, is the holy grail. This again has been inspired by your work and writing.

My thanks for the time you spend writing and uploading as for me it has been, as stated earlier, inspirational.

Kind regards, Ray.

Hello Russ, You have inspired me...I want to learn! I have been looking at your site for some time, as well as photos you have posted on the Flickr site. Your work is outstanding. I love the way some of your photos have that soft, abstract look. Some with very vibrant colors and some with muted tones. Thank you so much. I really enjoy looking at your work. It is very inspiring.

Hi Russ, Out of all the brandon marsh photos I see on flickr, to me yours are the best. Like you, I'm arty first then nature second I guess? I get up Brandon marsh regularly and have got to the stage where I wonder why? I don't go chasing rarities or put any of my shots on the web. They're all stored on my x/hard drive to be played with at a later date. You really inspire me and I keep your website on my favorites and love to see what you're up to next. You do have a sharp mind and that's what shows.

All the best of luck, regards from Helen
